Incisor enamel microstructure places New and Old World Eomyidae outside Geomorpha (Rodentia, Mammalia)

چکیده

The lower incisor enamel microstructure of the fossil rodent family Eomyidae was believed to be three-layered and highly derived but rather uniform throughout clade. Here, we describe a new four-layered schmelzmuster in consisting three-fold portio interna with longitudinal oriented, uniserial Hunter-Schreger bands one-fold externa, accounting for unique character combination Rodentia. This type has developed early eomyid evolution is detectable already late Eocene (Chadronian) North America. In European eomyids, it first occurs Miocene (MN 3), implying that this not present all members restricted species included Eomyini some genera currently considered incertae sedis within Eomyidae. Additionally, our analysis recognizes three taxa divergent from other eomyids. Incisor does advocate close phylogenetic relationship either or extant Heteromyidae Geomyidae, nor Heliscomyidae Florentiamyidae. Our results support view are placed outside Geomorpha.

Cylindrodonts (Cylindrodontidae, Rodentia) and a New Genus of Eomyid, Paranamatomys, (Eomyidae, Rodentia) from the Chadronian of Sioux County, Nebraska

Cylindrodon galbreathi Ostrander is shown to be ajunior synonym of C. nebraskensis Hough and AIf, and the first specimen of Ardynomys occidentalis is reported from the Chadronian of Nebraska. A restudy of the holotype of Cupressimus storeri Ostrander has revealed that this species is not referable to Cupressimus Storer but is referred to a new genus, Paranamatomys, which is referred to a new tr...

Pedetidae, or springhares, are represented by a single extant genus (Pedetes) and five extinct ones (Parapedetes, Megapedetes, Propedetes, Rusingapedetes and Oldrichpedetes of which the latter two are new). The fossil record of pedetids tends to be scanty, but remains have been found in Southern Africa, East Africa, the Maghreb, the Arabian Peninsula, Turkey and Greece. Most of the localities h...

The Miocene Keramidomys (Rodentia, Eomyidae) from the Sandelzhausen locality (Germany)

In this note the taxonomic position of the tiny eomyid genus Keramidomys (Hartenberger, 1967) from the Early/Middle Miocene boundary locality of Sandelzhausen in the Bavarian Upper Freshwater Molasse is reexamined. As the chronological dating of the Sandelzhausen fossil site has been modified in the past from formerly the Neogene mammal unit MN6 to now MN5 and thanks to new abundant material th...

Old World Econometrics and New World Theory

This paper summarizes recent work on the econometrics of identification in rational expectations models by myself and Andreas Beyer. In this work, we discuss the relationship between structure and reduced form in linear rational expectations models and we apply our analysis to a class of new Keynesian models that are frequently used to inform the policy debate. We argue that the identifying ass...
